Marcus Wendell Thompson
Marcus Wendell Thompson is an American composer, songwriter and voice-over artist. Born 1960 in a small town in Tennessee, he was surrounded by music from day one. His father was an accomplished guitarist, mother played piano and his two older brothers formed a rock band and cut a record as teenagers. Although Marcus took piano lessons as a child, he quickly dropped out and developed his own techniques. He began composing original music in his pre-teen years. At the age of 16, Marcus landed a DJ job at a local radio station and after high school, he continued a career in broadcasting and voice-over for radio and tv stations across the southeast.
At age 26, Marcus walked away from the broadcast business and put his music and other creative interest on hold in pursuit of business and entrepreneurial opportunities. After more than 20 years away from his first loves, in 2009 Marcus decided to make some of his more than 100 musical compositions available to the public and teamed up with producer and artist, Jake Hill in Nashville Tennessee to produce his first album "Sanctuary of Harmony" which was released in 2012. The album features twelve tranquil, music box like instrumentals most of which were composed by Marcus in the very early years of his life. Songs from the album are most commonly heard on New Age genre stations, but Marcus describes the music as being rooted in classical, condensed down to very simple forms that are soft, melodic and spiritually guided. Hailed by fans as some of the best stress reducing music on the planet and sometimes called "Musical Valium" the album is sold and streamed worldwide and continues to gain in popularity. Today Marcus is continuing with his musical interest creating music beds for commercials, film, on-hold music for telephone systems and other mediums with a flair for creating stress reducing music. Other musical projects in the works include a second album slated for release in 2016, a three movement symphony for orchestra and a Jazz colaboration with another artist. As a Voice-Over artist, his naturally deep "Movie Trailer" style voice can be heard around the world from PSA's for the State of Idaho to Promo's for Andrew Lloyd Webber's "Phantom of the opera" sequel.
